The first half of March on Providence delivered an action packed period of fishing, combining strong GT numbers, exceptional triggerfish action and a wide variety of species across the flats and deeper edges. With returning anglers back on the atoll and new milestones being achieved throughout, the fishery once again proved its depth, diversity and ability to produce unforgettable moments.

GT fishing led the charge with 48 fish landed, including an impressive number of metre plus specimens and multiple standout encounters. Allan delivered one of the top performances of the period, landing two metre plus GT including a massive 112 cm fish. Carlton matched this level of success, also landing two metre plus GT and sharing an incredible double up moment with Allan, where both anglers landed fish over a metre from the same group.
Clarke enjoyed a milestone week, landing his first GT and finishing strong with a 101 cm fish. Sanjay followed suit with his first GT, an outstanding 104 cm fish, earning him angler of the week among the group. John led early week action with a powerful 110 cm GT, later adding another strong 96 cm fish during an exciting double up. Christian also impressed with two quality fish measuring 88 cm and 98 cm, while Gerald added his first GT along with several more over the week. Across both weeks, GT fishing consistently delivered power, size and unforgettable moments on the flats and edges.

Triggerfish were a major highlight, with 32 fish landed and several trophy specimens coming to hand. Clarke dominated early in the period, landing 6 triggers in the first 2 days and continuing his run throughout the week. Allan added to the tally with multiple triggers, including the largest of the period, a 55 cm yellowmargin taken on a 6 wt rod. John and Clarke shared one of the standout sessions, landing 8 triggers to the boat before lunch in a fast paced and highly productive morning. Brandon also enjoyed success, landing multiple triggers including a 54 cm yellowmargin, while Simon added a quality moustache trigger to his tally. Triggerfish once again proved to be both technical and rewarding, offering consistent action across the flats.
Bonefish remained a rare but rewarding target on Providence, with 5 fish landed across the period. Christian accounted for 2 of these, successfully targeting and landing the only bonefish of the first week, while additional fish were landed in the second week as part of multi species success and slams.
Milkfish added another exciting dimension, with 4 fish landed. John celebrated his first ever milkfish late in the week, while additional fish were landed as part of strong multi species days across the atoll.

Providence’s diversity was on full display throughout the period. Saif achieved a rare milestone by landing a napoleon wrasse, while 3 napoleon wrasse were recorded overall. He also completed a super slam, highlighting the incredible range of species available.
A single bumphead parrotfish and a saddleback grouper were also landed, adding further variety to an already impressive catch list.
Overall, Providence delivered a thrilling and diverse two week period, defined by metre plus GT, trophy triggerfish, and a remarkable spread of species. From first GT to unforgettable double ups and technical flats success, the atoll continues to stand out as one of the most rewarding and dynamic fisheries in the Seychelles.
