This week welcomed us with sunny skies, tapering south easterly winds, stunning water conditions and a group of optimistic guests who were eager to get onto the flats. Ten anglers joined us, several of them familiar faces returning to Alphonse. While loads of fish were seen feeding on the crystal clear flats, getting the bite proved easier said than done.

Ed, a return guest, was the first to beat all the odds with a stunning 49cm Indo-Pacific permit, which he sight fished with his guide on the white sandy flats of Saint François Island.
The fish were tricky this week. Luckily for us, the bonefish cooperated with our anglers and provided loads of fun for all our guests. A total of 185 bonefish were caught throughout the week, keeping spirits high while the other species were playing hard to get

Laura and Kevin, both frequent return guests, also got in on the action, landing not one but three triggerfish in a single session. Each of them tricked a moustache triggerfish, and Laura went one better, adding a stunning 40cm yellow margin triggerfish to secure her title as ‘fisherwoman of the day’. Great work!
Jasper, also a return guest, managed to fool a tricky trigger of his own, landing a beautiful yellowmargin triggerfish on the sandy flats.

A big thank you to all our guests for their patience and good spirits on the flats, even when the fish made them work for every bite. Stay tuned for more from Alphonse!
