This week on Farquhar started off with a bang when, Oli went out for a walk on a flat near the lodge and was able to come tight with a bumpy right off the bat, landing the fish unguided, an exceptional way to start the trip.
Alex got off to a strong start on Day 1, landing two GTs to kick off his trip in style. Doug also added to the tally with a GT on the first day and another later in the week. Kent managed to secure a GT in the final hour of Day 5, while Gerry rounded things off on the last day of the week by landing a GT to leave the atoll on a high note.

Spencer followed Oli’s lead on Day 1 by landing a bumpy of his own. Kent equally got in on the action and landed the standout fish of the week, an absolute unit measuring 107 cm, as well as another later in his week. Peter also joined the club later in the week by landing his very first bumphead parrotfish.
Herman dedicated time to targeting triggerfish and was rewarded with his first moustache triggerfish, adding another exciting species to the week’s catch list. Spencer, guided by Reece, headed out in search of permit under ideal conditions, with fish spotted in good numbers and actively feeding. After several casts at a large fish in deeper water with a Micro Flexo, the permit ate the fly on the sink. After a tense fight on light drag and tippet, a superb 69 cm permit was brought to hand. Shortly after, Oli had his opportunity and successfully convinced another permit to eat the same fly pattern, making it two permit landed from the same boat.

Bonefish are ever present on the flats, with a couple of notable trophy fish landed during the week. Alex managed a solid bonefish measuring 63 cm, while Kent added another impressive specimen at 65 cm to go along with his other standout catches.
Alongside these headline species, anglers also encountered and landed a variety of other reef dwelling fish, including groupers, bohar snapper, and several other species, once again highlighting the incredible diversity that Farquhar Atoll has to offer.
Another phenomenal week on Farquhar, albeit with some slower GT action, the group diversified their target species and had an absolute blast targeting everything the Atoll has to offer. Thanks for joining us, and we look forward to welcoming you all back soon.
