The final week of the Farquhar season brought together six close friends and returning guests for another immersive week on the flats. With calm mornings, changing energy through the tides, and a strong understanding of the fishery, the group experienced a week defined by diversity, firsts and memorable personal milestones.

Giant trevally featured consistently throughout the week, with 15 fish landed in total. Day two proved to be a classic trevally day, with John, Paul, Collin and Mark each landing a GT. Collin and Robert continued to build on their long-term GT tallies on day three, while day four saw Collin add yet another fish to his week.
The fishing peaked again on day five, with John landing another GT and Mark landing two GTs. Paul added a GT off the beach early that morning as part of a memorable surf session. Despite ultra-calm conditions and some tough rejections from large fish on the final day, Mark and Robert both closed the week by landing another GT each.
Bumphead parrotfish were a major highlight of the week, with seven fish landed. Mark and Robert both opened their accounts on day one with bumpies. Paul added his first-ever bumpy on fly on day three. Day four delivered milestone moments, with Stephen landing his first-ever bumpy after several earlier losses, and John finally landing his first bumpy after losing seven over previous seasons.

Day five raised the bar when Robert landed his second bumpy of the week, followed by Paul landing a true standout fish — a powerful 105cm bumpy — during a surf walk near one of Farquhar’s iconic shipwrecks.
Triggerfish made their presence known early in the week, with three moustache triggers landed. Paul dominated the triggerfish action, landing two moustache triggers on the opening day, including a trophy specimen measuring 51cm. Later in the week, Collin surprised the group by landing a massive 59cm moustache trigger on a GT Beast fly — one of the most impressive triggerfish of the season.
Bonefish provided steady supporting action, with 17 fish landed over the course of the week. Stephen, the only first-time Farquhar guest, landed his first-ever bonefish on fly on day one — a significant milestone. John added a bonefish on day four to complete a flats slam, while Paul closed out his own slam on day five by landing several bonefish, including his first-ever.
Golden trevally added diversity to the week, with one golden trevally landed. Stephen chose a different path on day two, opting to target variety rather than GTs, and was rewarded with a golden trevally — a standout moment that rounded out the species list for the week.

Week nine delivered everything Farquhar is known for: trophy bumpies, consistent GT action, rare triggerfish moments, first-ever catches and multiple flats slams. From Paul’s dominant multi-species performances to milestone fish for Stephen and John, the week marked a fitting and memorable close to the first stint of the Farquhar season.
